New Leadership Amidst Executive Shifts

TAG Heuer, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, has appointed Béatrice Goasglas as its new Chief Executive Officer, a strategic move designed to foster executive stability within the company. Goasglas, who currently serves as President of TAG Heuer Americas, will assume her new role on May 1st. This appointment follows a period of considerable executive changes for the brand, which is a prominent part of the LVMH luxury group. The move aims to bring a steady hand to the helm of the official timekeeper of Formula 1.

A Career Path at TAG Heuer

Béatrice Goasglas brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She has been an integral part of TAG Heuer since 2018, initially joining the company in Geneva in a digital and customer experience capacity. Her career trajectory within the brand saw her lead its operations in the Asia Pacific region from Singapore, before taking charge of the Americas unit from Miami in 2023. Her extensive background in the luxury sector includes previous roles at brands such as Sephora, L'Oreal, and The Kooples and SMCP.

Goasglas takes over from Antoine Pin, who departed the company abruptly in January after just over a year in the CEO position. The brand has experienced notable executive turnover since the departure of Jean-Christophe Babin in 2013, cycling through several chief executives.

Strategic Vision and Brand Elevation

In her new capacity, Goasglas is expected to continue the brand's ongoing strategy focused on elevation and innovation. She will leverage her deep understanding of TAG Heuer's heritage, its talented team, and its iconic collections, including the celebrated Monaco and Carrera models. A key element of her strategy will involve steering the brand's prominent Formula 1 sponsorship. This partnership, now entering its second year, is part of a significant, decade-long agreement between LVMH and Formula 1, valued at over $1 billion, which also encompasses other LVMH brands like champagne and fashion.

Béatrice has had an outstanding career within TAG Heuer, and I am delighted that she will be taking the helm of this iconic watchmaking Maison. Her deep knowledge of the brand, combined with her leadership and unparalleled commitment, will enable TAG Heuer to reach new heights.

Market Context and Future Outlook

The appointment comes at a challenging yet dynamic time for the Swiss watch industry. While the broader sector has faced headwinds, including subdued consumer confidence in key markets like China due to economic pressures, and volatility in the US market influenced by stock market fluctuations and geopolitical uncertainties, there are signs of emerging improvement. LVMH reported that sales for its watchmaking division returned to moderate growth in the final quarter of the previous year, with industry exports also showing an increase in December.

As one of the largest Swiss watchmaking brands and the leading entity within LVMH's watch division, TAG Heuer's performance is closely watched. Goasglas's leadership is tasked with navigating these market complexities while capitalizing on the brand's established presence and strategic partnerships to drive future growth and reinforce its position in the luxury watch market.
