Pomellato has launched its latest high jewelry collection, titled ‘Stile Libero,’ meaning ‘freestyle’ in Italian. The collection comprises 65 pieces designed to make a statement about freedom of self-expression and creation. Inspired by Pomellato’s vision of a pluralistic, self-defined, and ever-evolving femininity, the collection showcases vibrant colors, confident volumes, and exceptional craftsmanship.

A Mindset of Freedom

‘Pomellato Stile Libero’ is described by the brand as a mindset that rejects rigid definitions and encourages instinctive movement and the courage to blend diverse skills. Vincenzo Castaldo, creative director of Pomellato, emphasized that the collection represents the freedom to move beyond comfort zones, building on heritage while embracing innovation.

The collection draws inspiration from eclecticism, an artistic style that blends elements from various eras and cultural influences, evident in its diverse forms, colors, and materials. This approach reflects a desire to push creative boundaries and unite distant worlds.

The Three Chapters of Stile Libero

The ‘Stile Libero’ collection is divided into three distinct chapters, each exploring a facet of freedom:

Visionary Colors

This chapter celebrates the expressive power of color and the emotional pull of light. It features aquatic palettes, tone-on-tone nuances, and vibrant gemstones set in unexpected geometries using Pomellato’s signature ‘serti libre’ technique. Prongs are used as deliberate accents, creating pieces with vibrant contrasts and light movement.

  • Mandala Chromia Necklace: A standout piece featuring a medallion set with 99 rare, fancy-cut multicolor sapphires (weighing nearly 45 carats total) in shades of pink, violet, yellow, blue, orange, and green, framed by 528 brown diamonds and 231 white diamonds. The hand-pierced openwork motif is a testament to the brand’s craftsmanship.
  • Drops of Paraíba Choker: This piece captures the ‘electric poetry of light in motion’ with 21 pear-cut Paraíba tourmalines totaling just over 20 carats. Set using the ‘serti libre’ technique amongst pavé diamonds on a rose gold collar, the tourmalines resemble shining droplets of rain.
  • Prism Rings: These rings feature tightly assembled rows of peridots, indigolites, rubellites, or Mandarin garnets, placed side by side to create an almost uninterrupted band of color.

Magnetic Gold

Embodying freedom through bold, voluminous gold forms, this chapter features chains, chokers, bracelets, earrings, and statement rings. The gold is paired with diamonds in unusual cuts, shades, and tones, including white and brown diamonds. This chapter also pays tribute to the tradition of jewelry making, highlighting the ‘goldsmith’s touch, taste, and intuition.’

  • Attache Necklace: Inspired by a 1990s Pomellato chain, this rose gold necklace centers four emerald-cut brown diamonds totaling 6.74 carats. It is accented by white and brown diamonds, including baguette-cut and pavé settings.
  • Note di Luce Rings: A series of seven rings, each featuring a unique hue and cut of diamond in a bespoke setting.
  • Ray of Light Ring: A striking double-band design in yellow gold with a twisted silhouette, centered on a 12.07-carat octagonal-cut yellow sapphire, highlighted by custom bezels and contrasting pavé diamonds.
  • Byzantine Modular Choker: This piece showcases nine exceptional emerald-cut brown diamonds, softened by custom rose gold bezels with subtle crater-like contours.

Hypnotic Shadows

This chapter demonstrates how Pomellato merges time-honored techniques with modern design. It reimagines the goldsmithing technique of openwork, expressed in two subchapters. One involves a collaboration with French master artisan Sara Bran, creating pieces with intricate floral motifs that play with solids and voids, light and shadow. The second subchapter reinterprets openwork as a pattern echoing the movement of chains.

  • Arabesque Set: White and rose gold pieces that are hand-pierced to simulate lace, featuring an interplay of solids and voids. The collection, a collaboration with Sara Bran, is illuminated by diamonds and features intricate, hand-pierced openwork. The rose gold necklace alone required 1,450 hours of craftsmanship.
  • Ipnotica Rings and Earrings: These pieces reinterpret openwork goldsmithing inspired by Pomellato’s signature chains, featuring rounded volumes with a subtle bas-relief effect and diamonds. The Ipnotica Titanio parure combines white diamonds with black titanium in a 3D openwork design.

The ‘Stile Libero’ collection, launched on June 23, is available on the Pomellato website and was presented in Milan alongside an exhibition titled ‘Pomellato, Le Joaillier Révolutionnaire’ at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
