Pandora Opens New Canadian Distribution Center, Streamlining Operations and Reducing Tariff Exposure

Pandora, the renowned Danish jewelry maker, has officially opened a new 10,600-square-foot online distribution facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. This strategic move aims to enhance customer experience by significantly reducing delivery times and simplifying the returns process, while also mitigating the company’s exposure to U.S. tariffs on imported goods.
Accelerated Deliveries and Enhanced Customer Service
The new Mississauga facility represents a significant upgrade for Pandora’s Canadian operations. Previously, online orders for Canadian customers were processed through U.S. distribution centers, necessitating passage through U.S. customs. This indirect route often resulted in longer delivery times, typically ranging from five to seven days. With the new Canadian hub, Pandora expects to halve delivery times, bringing them down to two to four days. This improvement is expected to significantly enhance the overall shopping experience for its Canadian clientele.
Tania Brosseau, Pandora’s Vice President for Canada, highlighted the importance of this development. “The new distribution center is an important step forward for Pandora in Canada. It means faster deliveries, more reliable service, and a better overall experience for our Canadian customers,” Brosseau stated. The facility is equipped to handle up to 12,500 online orders daily and is operated by the U.S.-based logistics company GXO Logistics, Inc.
Strategic Move to Counter Tariff Impacts
Beyond improving delivery efficiency, the new distribution center serves a critical role in Pandora’s strategy to navigate the complexities of international trade policies. Pandora manufactures its jewelry primarily in Thailand, and the company has been impacted by increased U.S. tariffs on goods from the country. These tariffs were projected to reduce Pandora’s operating margin by approximately 1.5 percentage points in 2026. By processing Canadian orders directly within Canada, Pandora bypasses U.S. customs and, consequently, reduces its vulnerability to these tariffs.
“The new center also reflects how we continually optimize our global distribution network to support long-term growth and strengthen our global supply chain,” Brosseau added. Canada is identified as one of Pandora’s fastest-growing markets, with revenues increasing by over 50 percent since 2019. Online sales in Canada account for more than 20 percent of the company’s total revenue in the country.
Innovative Logistics and Future Growth
The Mississauga facility is the first of Pandora’s locations to implement the company’s new logistics architecture. This innovative system features a “pick-to-light” order system, which uses illuminated indicators to guide employees in selecting the correct items for each order. Pandora asserts that this technology not only speeds up the order fulfillment process but also significantly reduces the likelihood of errors, leading to higher order accuracy and improved stock availability.
This initiative underscores Pandora’s commitment to optimizing its global supply chain and supporting sustained growth in key markets. The company maintains a significant physical presence in Canada, operating 96 stores and employing over 1,400 individuals. The successful integration of this new distribution center is expected to fortify Pandora’s position in the Canadian market and provide a more resilient operational framework against future trade uncertainties.
