Kevin Reilly Retires After 39 Years, Leaving a Lasting Legacy in the Jewelry Industry

A Pillar of Platinum Promotion Steps Down
Kevin Reilly, senior vice president of Platinum Guild International (PGI) USA, has announced his retirement, effective at the end of June, concluding a remarkable 39-year career in the jewelry industry, with 20 of those years dedicated to PGI USA. Reilly is widely recognized for his significant contributions to brand building, sales, marketing, and education within the sector. His departure marks the end of an era for platinum promotion in the U.S. market, leaving behind a legacy of partnership development and professional education that has influenced thousands.
Reilly expressed his deep gratitude for his career, stating, “I have been blessed with a career that exceeded my wildest dreams. From my earliest days in retail to the incredible opportunities I was given at Platinum Guild International USA, every chapter of my journey has been filled with meaningful work, cherished friendships, and unforgettable experiences.”
A Career Built on Expertise and Partnership
Reilly’s professional journey began with Macy’s Executive Development Program. He then held senior leadership roles at prominent companies including Lazare Kaplan International and Tache USA. Joining PGI USA in 2006, he was instrumental in elevating the profile of platinum within the U.S. jewelry market. His efforts focused on developing strategic partnerships across the entire supply chain, fostering growth and collaboration.
A key aspect of Reilly’s work involved extensive educational initiatives. He established platinum jewelry education programs at esteemed institutions such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Pratt Institute, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the 92nd Street Y Jewelry Center, and the Miami Jewelry School. Furthermore, he conducted training seminars for thousands of retail sales associates and led the creation of an award-winning online platinum sales training video series in collaboration with Elias World Media, which received a Bronze Telly Award for Video Series, Education and Training, Business-to-Business.
Reilly was a familiar and respected voice at industry conferences and events, consistently sharing insights on how manufacturers and retailers could leverage platinum to enhance their businesses. His passion for promoting the precious metal was evident in his dedication to educating the trade.
Beyond Jewelry: A Passion for Creating Moments
In addition to his extensive career in the jewelry industry, Reilly has maintained a significant and long-standing role in special event production. For 48 years, he has been an integral member of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Committee, contributing to the production of iconic, nationally televised events like the parade itself, Macy’s 4th of July fireworks, and various other holiday spectacles.
Reflecting on his dual career paths, Reilly shared, “Creating magical moments for millions of people, whether through jewelry or through great events, has always been my passion. I have been fortunate to enjoy two careers that brought me tremendous joy and allowed me to work alongside some of the most talented and inspiring people imaginable.”
Gratitude and Future Endeavors
Reilly expressed profound appreciation for his time at PGI USA, describing it as “the opportunity of a lifetime—a place where my talents were recognized, my ideas were encouraged and I was given the freedom to pursue my passions while delivering meaningful results for an industry I love.” He extended special thanks to Jenny Luker, president of PGI USA, whom he considers a mentor and dear friend. “She believed in me, opened doors I never thought possible, and changed the course of my career. For that, I will be forever grateful,” Reilly stated.
Luker reciprocated the sentiment, calling Reilly an “incredible asset” to PGI USA. “Beyond being an exceptional professional, he has been a trusted colleague and dear friend, whose integrity, wisdom, and kindness have left a lasting mark on anyone who knows him. While we will certainly miss his leadership and daily presence, we are grateful for his many years of dedication and the impact and legacy he leaves behind,” she said.
As he transitions into retirement, Reilly plans to enjoy a summer break before considering select consulting opportunities in both the jewelry industry and special event production. He will also continue his long-standing commitment to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Committee. “I leave this chapter with a full heart, immense gratitude, and excitement for what comes next,” Reilly concluded. “The relationships, experiences, and memories I’ve made throughout these past 39 years are gifts that I will cherish forever.”
