Oregon Robbery and Interstate Flight

The Jewelers Security Alliance (JSA) is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest of two individuals involved in the armed robbery of a Kay Jewelers in Tigard, Oregon. The incident occurred on April 4 around 6 p.m. inside the Washington Square Mall.

According to the Tigard Police Department, two men entered the store, wearing dark clothing, masks, and gloves. They were armed with a handgun and a hammer. One suspect threatened store personnel with the firearm, while the other used a hammer to smash a gold jewelry showcase. The suspects then collected the stolen items into a black bag and fled the scene.

Suspect Descriptions and Escape

The JSA provided descriptions of the suspects:

  • Suspect 1: Male, approximately 25-30 years old, 5’10”, 160 lbs., Hispanic or Caucasian, with black facial hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, a black beanie cap, a black face mask, and black shoes.
  • Suspect 2: Male, approximately 25-30 years old, 5’10”, Black. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, a grey beanie cap, a black face mask, and black shoes.

The suspects escaped the mall and fled in a black Honda Accord. The vehicle reportedly struck other cars during their escape, causing minor property damage, before crossing state lines into Washington state, which led to the termination of a law enforcement pursuit.

JSA's Warning and Call for Information

JSA Executive Vice President Scott Guginsky noted that the alliance decided to issue a reward due to the dangerous nature of the suspects and their apparent disregard for public safety. Guginsky had previously warned jewelers about increased risks associated with rising gold prices, stating, “They’re targeting [stores] because of the price of gold and it’s only going to get worse. Jewelers need to change the way they operate.”

Fortunately, no shots were fired during the robbery, and no one was injured. Police are appealing to the public for any information, particularly any surveillance or dash-cam footage that could help identify the suspects or their vehicle. Detectives are also seeking information about the suspects entering or leaving the mall.

Those with information are encouraged to contact the Tigard Police Department at [email protected] or 503-718-COPS. Information related to the JSA reward can be submitted confidentially to the Jewelers’ Security Alliance at their reward hotline at 212-687-0328 or via email at [email protected].
