The prestigious COUTURE show in Las Vegas is once again highlighting emerging talent with the introduction of 17 new brands to its curated Design Atelier section. This dedicated space provides a platform for up-and-coming jewelry designers, typically with two to eight years in business, to showcase their work to a global audience of retailers, press, and collectors. These designers, who have a maximum of three years in the Design Atelier before potentially graduating to larger showrooms, represent a vibrant cross-section of contemporary fine jewelry, each bringing a distinct perspective, unique craftsmanship, and compelling inspirations.

A Diverse Showcase of Emerging Talent

This year's cohort of 17 newcomers to the Design Atelier brings a rich tapestry of styles and inspirations. From the architectural precision of Daniel Yu Jewelry to the cultural fusions of Itä and the art-driven narratives of Jack Ferrero and 12th House, the selection underscores a strong appetite for independent voices in the high jewelry space.

Among the new exhibitors are:

  • Ashaha, founded in Paris by Oumaima Benharbit, draws inspiration from Amazigh culture and '70s aesthetics, blending traditional craftsmanship with unexpected materials like plexiglass. Their 'Anzar' cuff, featuring opal and diamonds, exemplifies this innovative approach.
  • Ashna Mehta's eponymous brand, launched in 2022, is known for its 'Bag Bijoux' collection – high jewelry pieces designed to transform into brooches, pendants, or bag charms. Mehta's work is influenced by her global upbringing and a desire to infuse playfulness into luxury.
  • Baetyl Fine Jewelry, established by Lorien Yonker, focuses on colored gemstones, drawing parallels between jewelry design and fine art. Yonker describes her aesthetic as 'punk rock Audrey Hepburn,' merging edginess with timeless elegance.
  • Camille Beinhorn creates hand-fabricated 22-karat gold pieces inspired by ancient goldsmithing techniques and unique gemstones, seeking to bridge the gap between historical awareness and contemporary vision.
  • Clara Chehab, based in Beirut, crafts sculptural jewelry that balances playfulness with sophistication. Her designs are inspired by life's stages and Mother Earth, often featuring raw, asymmetrical gemstones.
  • Cultus Artem, rebranded by Holly Tupper in San Antonio, Texas, offers art-forward fine jewelry alongside luxury fragrance and skincare, emphasizing a complete sensory experience through traditional techniques and rare materials.
  • Daniel Yu Jewelry, founded by former architect Daniel Yu, views jewelry as 'architecture at an intimate scale,' with pieces imbued with memory, protection, and a sense of belonging, influenced by his bicultural experience.
  • Dorothée Potocka's namesake brand, established in Paris, explores the meeting point between matter and consciousness, drawing inspiration from geological time, mythology, and historical savoir-faire.
  • Itä, co-founded by friends Inés Capó and Afet Burcu Salargil, bridges their San Juan and Istanbul heritages, creating joyful, colorful pieces inspired by artifacts, nature, and history.
  • Jack Ferrero, a Los Angeles-based brand, blends fine jewelry with art objects, drawing inspiration from art, mythology, and emotion to create pieces rich in storytelling and craftsmanship, recently winning a CASE Award for their 'Pomegranate of the Sacred Garden' ring.
  • Juliana Xerez Fine Jewelry, based in Dubai and Brazil, focuses on sculptural pieces centered around vibrant gemstones framed by precise diamond work, embodying strength and softness.
  • Orly Marcel, founded by Orly Eisbart in Denver, draws inspiration from travel, art, architecture, and nature, with designs rooted in connection, symbolism, and emotion.
  • Pen Mané, a collaboration between Calvin Wang and Vincent Guy-Raffin, balances rigorous engineering with organic, asymmetrical designs, inspired by a childhood home on the Bretagne coast.
  • Shola Branson, based in London, creates pieces that explore the tension between the ancient and the future, influenced by architecture and ritual, aiming for objects that feel timeless.
  • U Los Angeles, founded by Garen Yessayan, takes inspiration from the city's culture, creating modern, expressive pieces designed for day-to-night wear, with a focus on hardstones and diamonds.
  • Yé Brand, launched by New York City-based Mona Ye, is guided by intuition and the study of free-flowing shapes, drawing from nature and art to create classic yet modern sculptural pieces.
  • 12th House, founded by sculptor Kelly Lannen, offers 'irreverently magical, intimate, bold, and kinetic' pieces inspired by fine arts traditions and symbolic language, with a focus on sculptural lockets like the 'Wishkeeper' pendulum vessel.
