Double the Designers, Double the Distinction

Continental Buying Group (CBG) has significantly expanded its Curated Designer Project (CDP) for its Las Vegas show, doubling the number of participating independent jewelry designers. The event, held May 26-27, 2026, at Caesars Palace, aims to provide CBG's retail members with exclusive access to distinctive, handcrafted collections that stand apart from mass-market offerings.

Following a successful debut at the CBG Miami show earlier this year, the Las Vegas edition of the CDP has grown from four to eight designers. The initiative is designed to bring unique and artisanal jewelry into the CBG ecosystem, offering retailers pieces that are not easily found elsewhere and helping them differentiate themselves in their local markets.

Retailer Demand Drives Growth

Matt Tratner, president of CBG, highlighted the growing retailer interest in niche, design-led jewelry collections. "Differentiation is the dominant theme. Our retailers are independent operators, and they need product that tells a story and that their local market cannot find anywhere else," Tratner stated. He added that distinctive products also contribute to healthier profit margins for independent businesses.

Tratner noted that retailers are currently seeking colored stones, unique custom and handcrafted work, and suppliers who can offer exclusivity. Technology's role in enhancing customer experience and driving sales is also a key focus for businesses.

Meet the Designers

The expanded Las Vegas CDP features returning designers Chris Ploof Designs and Folium, joined by first-time participants GemologyGeek, Joyla Jewelry, Rahul’s Jewels, Melinda Lawton Jewelry, Jason McLeod Jewelry, and Anty.

Chris Ploof Designs

Based in Leominster, Massachusetts, Chris Ploof draws inspiration from his background in blacksmithing and the cycling industry. His signature style incorporates materials like Mokume gane and Damascus steel, as well as meteorite iron. Ploof founded his brand in 2004 and was recently selected as the first American designer to work with the new Modern Electrum alloy.

Folium

Led by master goldsmith Myles Ryan, Folium is rooted in nature-inspired designs, blending ancient techniques with a contemporary aesthetic. Based in Oakland, California, the brand focuses on sculptural, hand-engraved jewels that are symbolic and crafted with exceptional skill.

GemologyGeek

Founded by Erica Silverglide in New York City, GemologyGeek combines an educational gemology platform with a colored gemstone shop. Silverglide, who has a keen eye for color nuances, debited her first collection, “Ignite,” earlier this year. The brand emphasizes the scientific aspects of gemstones, including optical behavior and inclusions, offering exceptional stones to designers and retailers.

Joyla Jewelry

Lori Gadola’s Ocean City, Maryland-based brand, Joyla Jewelry, celebrates the beauty of gemstones through vibrant designs. The collection features stones like turquoise, pearls, and labradorite, often incorporating symbols of positivity in its “Affirmation” collection.

Rahul’s Jewels

Rahul Gupta founded Rahul’s Jewels in New York City with a mission to create fine jewelry that is personal, expressive, and inclusive. The brand challenges traditional luxury by blending natural diamonds with contemporary design and meaningful storytelling. Many pieces are gender-inclusive, and the brand supports equality and social impact organizations.

Melinda Lawton Jewelry

Melinda Lawton established her namesake brand in 2003, drawing on her background in film and television design. Based in Hendersonville, North Carolina, her designs are known for their unique use of color, rare stones, and refined craftsmanship, often centering the gemstones themselves.

Jason McLeod Jewelry

Jason McLeod, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, creates sculptural fine jewelry that merges timeless craftsmanship with futuristic imagination. Inspired by Art Deco, organic forms, and science fiction, McLeod works primarily in gold, platinum, and sterling silver. The “Time Traveler” collection, inspired by star charts and coded markings, will see a new gold version launch at the show.

Anty

Co-founded by sisters Amany and Engy Afify in Washington, D.C., Anty aims to tell a story of heritage, empowerment, and individuality. Their designs, often featuring 18-karat gold and diamonds, are timeless, distinctive, and gender-neutral, combining Egyptian heritage influences with ethical craftsmanship.
