Cast Jewelry Rises Anew with Founder Rachel Skelly at the Helm

The fine jewelry brand Cast has made a comeback, relaunching as 'Cast 2.0' under the direction of its original cofounder, Rachel Skelly. Skelly, who purchased the company’s intellectual property after its abrupt closure in mid-2025, is now at the helm as CEO, designer, and founder, bringing a refreshed vision and renewed sense of purpose to the brand.
The Recasting of Cast
Cast, initially founded as a collective focused on female designers, faced challenges common to early-stage brands, compounded by unpredictable economic factors. After a four-year run and the closure of its three stores, Skelly promised a return and has kept her followers updated on her progress. The brand’s website now reflects this new chapter with phrases like ‘the recasting of Cast’.
“I just feel like Cast is not done and I’m not done with Cast,” Skelly stated. “I was obsessed with everything we were doing. The high-level truth is we built an amazing brand that was so beloved. We had loyal followers.”
Skelly, a former graphic designer who cofounded the original Cast with entrepreneur Eric Ryan, has spent the past six months working to re-establish the business. She expressed excitement about having total control of the jewelry business in this new iteration. The relaunch was announced on January 1st, with a new website and email communications to subscribers following shortly after.
Introducing Cast 2.0’s Design Philosophy
Cast 2.0 has debuted its Compass collection, featuring transformative pendants that exemplify the brand’s revitalized design philosophy. These pieces are designed to offer multiple looks, utilizing diverse gemstones and materials to cater to individual client preferences.
A notable example is the Compass Mini Nomad pendant ($2,200), which can be worn with either a black onyx and gray spinel side or a 14k gold and diamond side facing out. The Compass Nomad pendant ($7,950) showcases black onyx, tiger’s eye, citrine, and diamond pavé on one side, with the reverse featuring all diamonds on a 14k gold face.
The Voyager pendant also highlights the brand’s versatility. Its mini version ($850) pairs malachite with mint emerald, while the regular size ($3,250) combines malachite with turquoise and sky blue topaz. Both are available in 14k gold and sterling silver, with diamond pavé accents.
“Compass is about following my north star and not giving up on hope,” Skelly shared, explaining the inspiration behind the collection, which came to her during her morning yoga practice. “It’s when I can be in my head and focus on my life.”
A Nod to the Past, A Focus on the Future
Longtime fans of Cast will recognize some original designs, such as the popular double-sided Flip ring, are available on the new website. The Flip ring is celebrated for its patented reversible design, allowing it to be styled in multiple ways to suit one’s mood or outfit.
Currently, Cast operates online, with Skelly actively scheduling trunk shows to reconnect with retailers and customers. She also aims to establish strategic wholesale partnerships. While Skelly cherished the brand’s physical stores, she believes earning the right to reopen them is a future goal.
In its initial launch phase, Cast collaborated with designers like Alice Cicolini, Francesca Villa, and Kristy Ford, offering distinctive capsule collections. Skelly emphasized the brand’s core aesthetic as artful, distinctive, and timeless, with a nod to vintage styles modernized for today.
Cast 2.0 plans to introduce new collections and vintage pieces throughout the year, with potential plans for expanding its collective of designers and eventually re-establishing a brick-and-mortar presence.
