Brilliant Earth Reports 6% Sales Growth in Q1, Driven by Fine Jewelry and Higher-Income Consumers

Fine Jewelry Shines as Sales Climb in First Quarter
Brilliant Earth kicked off its fiscal year with a robust first quarter, reporting net sales of $99.5 million, a 6 percent increase year-over-year. The jewelry retailer’s performance, which concluded on March 31, met the high end of its guidance, largely propelled by significant growth in its non-bridal fine jewelry segment and a record Valentine’s Day performance.
The company noted a substantial rise in fine jewelry bookings, which grew 33% year-over-year and constituted 17% of total bookings. Showroom bookings for fine jewelry also saw an impressive increase of 48% year-over-year. This strategic expansion into fine jewelry is paying off, offering diversification and mitigating the fluctuations sometimes seen in the bridal market.
Higher-Income Consumers Drive Average Order Value
Total orders increased by 3% compared to the previous year, while the average order value (AOV) also rose by 3% to $2,131. This increase in AOV is attributed to a shift towards higher-priced items within the product assortment and selective price adjustments made in response to rising metal costs. Brilliant Earth is strategically focusing on its higher-value customer base, with nearly 40% more new fine jewelry customers making their first purchase of $500 or more compared to the prior year.
